Your Name: Abdul Raafi Mohammed

What do you do?: I am a blogger and a producer

What's the name of your company/organization?: Genie Films

How did you get started in your field?: Thanks to Michael Jackson, I realized how film and the power of story-telling could and can change the world. I featured in school drama plays and landed roles in the local movie industry in Northern Ghana. After studying home science in high school and serving as the entertainment PRO in my final year in high school, I worked for an NGO video production company in Tamale called Countrywise Ghana, then I further went to Accra Film School to study film and television.

Tell us a bit more about your company/organization: At Genie Films, we pick inspiring and developmental topics that need to be heard and told, and film them as documentaries. We recently began our entertainment show titled StarXTV.

How did your education and previous experiences help you to become what you are today?: My education helped me decide what my passion was, and that was film and television. In as much as my friends and family didn't quite agree, I saw myself as a movie character who needed to prove to them that they are right for being doubtful and I'm right for being hopeful.

Is there anything else you are working on at this time?: I have been an advocate for girl child education, health and empowerment. I'm currently among a team of young determined minds who are creating awareness and planning a fundraiser for children with autism.

What are the top qualities you would require in someone who wants to work with/for you?: Passion, Belief, Patience, Love, Appreciation

What advice would you give to students, young professionals and aspiring changemakers/entrepreneurs?: If you know what you want to achieve is worth achieving, then go for it. It's not going to be easy - there will be restless days, sleepless nights, doubts and disappointments. Remember don't blame anyone or anything, keep believing in yourself, be patient, keep the passion alive, show appreciation for every little tiny effort or achievement and everything will be alright.
