How did you get started in your field?: Drawing came about for me when I was a young boy of eight years. In the early 2000s, I started drawing cartoon characters which later developed as I paid closer attention to the characters' outfits. I started designing clothes at age 10 for friends and family. Not too long after that, I developed the avant garde aesthetic, and school desks, walls, dusty car windows and textbooks became my canvases for sketching captivating designs.

Tell us a bit more about your company/organization: Steve French the brand is a fusion of clothing and fashion illustration.The brand is popularly known for its flair for extravagant designs. The brand is mostly inspired by the female form and abstract patterns and is easily identified by his uniquely distinct silhouettes. Steve French can easily be described as an unconventional designer/brand who brings excitement and pleasure to the eye.



How did your education and previous experiences help you to become what you are today?: Yes! My previous experiences and education background in Science and Visual Arts have influenced my clothing and art today a whole lot and I apply them always! I studied Science then later diverted to study Visual Arts at Apam Senior High School in the Central Region of Ghana. Upon graduating in 2012, I knew for sure that I wanted to become a fashion designer. I furthered my fashion education at Radford University College, in Greater Accra, Ghana. 

Is there anything else you are working on at this time?: Yes, I'm working on my collection for this year which will only show at the Ghana Fashion & Design Week 2017. I'm also teaching myself photography which has also been a passion!

How do you define success?: To me success is basically achieving a set goal or objective. It could be anything at all.

If you had to start your career over again, what would you do differently?: I don't think I would do anything differently because every action I took, whether good or bad, has helped me .

What are the top qualities you would require in someone who wants to work with/for you?: Passion, hard work and dedication.

What advice would you give to students, young professionals and aspiring change makers/entrepreneurs?: Always be yourself!! Love what you do, always be ready to learn and lastly don't give up on your dream - Pursue it!!!
